Analyzing an air compressor air system needs to consider 4 elements for correct selection

Two Stage Screw Air CompressorPower Station Industry

The most important thing to analyze an air compressor air system is to determine your air compression needs, including the quality and quantity requirements for the end users in the factory. Careful assessment of these requirements and a good understanding of the differences between the two can ensure that we can properly configure the air compressor system. Also determining your air pressure needs and loading needs is too important to ignore.

1. The “quality” of the air

The quality of the air is determined by the user’s requirements for the dryness level and pollution level of the air. It can save a lot of cost to find out the real drying level requirements and the minimum pollution level requirements that meet the production needs. In this way, the purchase of machines and models exceeding the actual production demand can be avoided to achieve the purpose of saving costs.

2. The “quantity” of air

So how to calculate how many air compressors are needed for the air source in the air system? This total is determined by your compressed air application and handling equipment (load factor also needs to be factored in). The total air volume demand is not the sum of the maximum demand of all components but the sum of the average demand of each piece of equipment.

3. Pressure demand

When calculating the minimum exhaust pressure requirements, we need to take into account the different pressure levels and pressure drops of the compressed air equipment. Compressed air passes from one component to another, reducing the pressure within the device. Some people often make wrong judgments that the air compressor pressure is too low or unstable, thinking that it is caused by insufficient exhaust pressure.

Pressure drop means that the air pressure decreases from the exhaust port to the actual end application location. The process of compressed air flowing in the system is accompanied by the generation of pressure drop. However, if the pressure drop is too large, it will lead to poor gas use effect and increase additional energy consumption. This point must be paid attention to in actual production.

4. Load requirements

Another key to rationally designing and operating a screw air compressor system is to analyze the compressed air demand of the plant from the overall situation. In the long run, changes in air demand are an issue in system design that cannot be ignored. Some factories have high requirements for the variability of air demand. Users need to scientifically design a set of efficient and energy-saving solutions that meet their own needs, such as using multiple air compressors for parallel control to obtain the most economical and affordable operation mode.
