1. The difference between single screw air compressor and twin screw air compressor

 

The main engine of a single-screw compressor consists of a cylindrical screw and two symmetrically arranged planar star wheels. The screw drives the star wheel to rotate. The gas enters the screw groove from the suction chamber and is compressed.

A twin-screw compressor has two counter-rotating spiral rotors meshing with each other. The volume of the closed spiral groove decreases with rotation, and the pressure of the air gradually increases.

2. Advantages and Disadvantages of Single Screw Air Compressor and Twin Screw Air Compressor

 

1. Manufacturing cost: Ordinary bearings can be used as the screw and star wheel bearings of single-screw air compressors, and the manufacturing cost is low. Due to the heavy load on the two screw rotors, twin-screw air compressors require the use of bearings with higher precision, resulting in higher manufacturing costs.

2. Efficiency: In the new machine state, the efficiency of single-screw air compressor and twin-screw air compressor accessories are basically the same. As the running time increases, the star wheel wear of the single-screw air compressor will lead to a reduction in air volume and efficiency.

 

3. Reliability: The star wheel of a single-screw air compressor is a vulnerable part. In addition to high requirements for star wheel materials, the star wheel must be maintained regularly. The twin-screw air compressor has a large screw rotor load and high bearing precision, which also requires regular inspection and maintenance.

4. Applicability: Single-screw air compressors are suitable for high exhaust pressure situations, while twin-screw air compressors are only suitable for medium and low pressure ranges due to limitations of rotor stiffness and bearing load.
